Humble Appeal for a New Darbar Hall
(A Necessity for Our Sangat, Our Children, and Future Generations)
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
Guru Roop Sagh Sangat Ji,
With utmost humility and faith in Waheguru Ji, we appeal to our Connecticut beloved Sangat for your support in establishing a new Darbar Hall for Guru Ji at Gurdwara Sachkhand Darbar, Hamden, Connecticut.
This is not simply a desire to build a larger or more beautiful facility. It has become a necessity. Our Gurdwara Sahib is growing, our Sangat is growing, and our responsibilities toward our community and future generations are growing with it.
Why a New Darbar Hall Is Needed:
The present Darbar Hall has greatly served our Sangat since June 2012, but the available space is no longer sufficient for the needs of our growing community. On busy Sundays, Gurpurabs, Special programs, and other important occasions, accommodating the Sangat comfortably and respectfully has become increasingly difficult.
Every Gursikh who enters Guru Sahib’s Darbar should have the opportunity to sit peacefully, listen to Gurbani, participate in Kirtan and Ardaas, and experience the spiritual atmosphere with dignity and concentration.
A new Darbar Hall will provide the space needed for our Sangat today—and, more importantly, for the generations who will come after us.
The Existing Darbar Hall Will Not Be Wasted:
An important part of this project is that the present Darbar Hall will continue serving the Gurdwara community.
Once the new Darbar Hall is completed, the existing Darbar Hall will be converted and utilized as a dedicated Langar Hall,
(Currently there is no Langar Hall). This will provide a much-needed, larger Seva hall .
At present, two rooms in the adjoining house are being used for Langar Seva. By moving these Langar activities into the existing Darbar Hall, those two rooms will be freed and made available for another very important mission:
Sunday School for Our Children:
These rooms can then be dedicated to Sunday School, giving our children a proper place to learn about:
Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji • Gurbani • Sikh History • Sikh Rehat • Punjabi • Gurmukhi • Sikh Values • Seva and Simran
Our children are the future of our Gurdwara Sahib. If we want them to remain connected to Sikhi, we must provide them with an environment where they can learn, understand, ask questions, and develop love for Guru Sahib and Gurmat.
Therefore, this one project will allow us to accomplish three important needs at the same time:
It is a Project With a Spiritual Purpose:
This is not merely construction of a building.
It is a Divine investment in Gurbani, Sangat, Pangat, Seva, education, and the future of Sikhi in our community, especially Greater New Haven Sangat & Shore area.
Every brick, every beam, every square foot of this project can become part of a lasting Seva.
Our Gurus taught us to serve humanity, share with others, remember Waheguru, and build communities rooted in faith and compassion. We have an opportunity today to put those teachings into action.
Let us build not only a building, but a place where future generations can bow before Guru Sahib, listen to Gurbani, learn Sikhi, serve Langar, and walk proudly on the path shown by our Gurus.
We Humbly Need Your Support:
We therefore make a heartfelt request to every member of Connecticut Sangat: Please consider making a generous contribution toward the New Darbar Hall Project. No contribution is too small when it is offered with Shradha, Seva, and love for Guru Sahib.
Those who are able to contribute generously are requested to do so. Those who cannot make a large contribution can participate according to their means. Every dollar, every hour of Seva, every prayer, and every effort will help move this important project forward.
A new and spacious Darbar Hall for Guru Sahib and the growing Sangat.
A dedicated Langar Hall by repurposing the existing Darbar Hall.
Dedicated classrooms for Sunday School by freeing the two rooms currently used for Langar Seva.
Let us come together as one Sangat and make this necessity a reality.
May Waheguru Ji bless this Seva, bless our Gurdwara Sahib, bless every member of our Sangat, and bless our children and future generations with Gurmat, Chardi Kala, and Naam.
With Guru Sahib’s blessings, let us build for today—and for generations to come.
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa,
Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
