The conceptual plan shown above represents the approach we are taking to build our New Darbar Hall using a factory-designed steel building structure.
This approach can potentially save approximately 15–20% on the outer shell construction cost compared with a more traditional custom-built approach.
But we believe we can save even more:
We are putting together a knowledgeable and experienced team from within our own Sangat to help manage and coordinate the overall project. By taking on much of the project management ourselves, purchasing materials directly where possible, and avoiding a significant portion of the General Contractor’s markup—potentially another 20%, we hope to achieve substantial additional savings.
Estimated Savings: $200,000+ in Overall Savings
Our personal estimate is that, through this community-driven approach, we can potentially save at least $200,000 or more over the overall project cost.
Of course, achieving these savings will require considerable time, legwork, coordination, knowledge, and dedicated effort from our team and volunteers. Direct material purchasing and careful project management will also be important.

This Is Our Sangat’s Project
We already have utilities available on the existing premises, and once the New Darbar Hall is completed, our current Darbar Hall can be transformed into a Langar Hall.
When we look at the overall picture, this plan makes sense both financially and practically.
